ARIA Awards: The Ladies We Would Like to See Win

Yesterday the Australia Recording Industry Association (ARIA) released their nominations for the what’s hot of the Australian music scene, recognizing the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres.

This year sees young musical talent dominate the nominations and there is a bevy of female artists in the mix. Here’s my pick of top Aussie female artists nominated this year.

Sheppard

This Brisbane based indie-pop band is made up of two sisters, one brother, and three other dudes. Their second track “Geronimo” knocked Pharrell’s “Happy” off the number one perch after 12 weeks at the top.

Sia

This unique pop singer-songwriter has collaborated with the likes of Beyoncé, Eminem, Rita Ora, and Shakira but refuses to embrace the celebrity life. She now chooses to hide who face when performing.

Iggy Azalea

This hip-hopping rapper has achieved all sorts of accolades and chart success since she moved to the USA just before her 16th birthday. Recently, she’s been making headlines for her booty shaking, twerking moves with J-Lo.

Gossling

We featured this stunning songstress back in The Dream Issue and she’s continues to shine brightly. We love her silky brand of folk/pop and she does covers oh so well. What’s your take on her cover of Vance Joy’s “RipTide.”
