From Beyonce to Uber, Gender Equality is Spreading

The tres pop affordable alternative to traditional taxis, Uber, has announced its partnership with UN Women. As part of UN Women’s “Step it Up” program—a call to action that positions 2015 as momentous for gender equality and women’s empowerment—Uber has promised to create 1,000,000 jobs for women globally on the Uber platform by 2020. “This important mission can only be accomplished when all women have direct access to safe and equitable earning opportunities,” its statement asserts.

What’s really exciting is how gender equality and women’s empowerment are no longer marginalized initiatives, but rather embraced by such mainstream and pop culture enterprises as a multi-billion dollar transport company.

Expect to see more ladies behind the wheel when ordering your next boozy lift, Uber is recruiting!
