Ivanka Trump’s mission to convince America that her father isn’t a sexist misogynist is almost as hilarious as the man himself. The 33 year-old told Huffington Post three days ago that Donald Trump would be “incredible for women in this country.”
What’s consistent, however—along with papa Trump’s frequent claims of a similar conviction, like during the second 2016 GOP Debate when he announced that “women don’t have to worry about me, I’ll take care of women”—is that no single piece of evidence has been laid out to support the idea. In fact, repeated public statements indicate the exact opposite. Like, calling Fox News reporter Megyn Kelly a “bimbo,” his face-shaming remark about fellow GOP candidate Carly Fiorina: “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that?!,” his tweet about Hillary Clinton: “If Hillary can’t satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America?,” his famous mantra “as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass,” and many, many more…
What’s also rich is that the recent ‘Donald Trump = pro woman’ claim is coming from Ivanka Trump. Yes, she’s a woman. And a successful entrepreneur at that (albeit she’s had more opportunities and money to back her ambitions than nearly any girl in America). But she’s also a woman who represents the very thing that too often harms women in a white supremacist capitalist patriarchy (thank you, Belle Hooks!). For almost a decade, Ivanka has flaunted her gigantic fake boobs, fake tan, and fake nose as if such male gaze-benefiting self mutilation was something to be applauded. Now, without getting all Ivanka-shaming on y’all—it’s her body, she can do with it as she pleases—along with her attempts to excuse the inexcusable accounts of misogyny and sexism offended by her father, Ivanka is hardly the poster-girl for women’s rights and empowerment.
Ivanka and Donald Trump claim that a Trump leadership will be great for the women of America. I’d like to know HOW.
