Treats at the Titty Table: Mango Lemonade

On a hot afternoon, does anything taste better than an ice-cold glass of lemonade? When that sweet, sweet nectar of the Lemon & Sugar Gods combine forces for the sole purpose of quenching your thirst? Oooo! I just got chills. And whose childhood wasn’t filled with entrepreneurial dreams of getting rich from running the most profitable lemonade stand in the neighborhood?

This here is some seriously gourmet lemonade. You ready for this? Fresh mango. A hint of lime. Thai basil. A sprinkling of cayenne. WHAT! Also, it’s sweetened with some organic agave, so as to not give you the crazy sugar shakes! Next time it’s a scorcher out, gather up your girlfriends, turn down that a/c, and enjoy a pitcher of this while you all catch up & discuss the latest episodes of Girls & Broad City! (Pssst! Feel free to add tequila or light rum!)

Mango Lemonade

Mango Lemonade ingredients

1 cup fresh mango puree (I used 2 ripe mangos, peeled, cut into chunks, & pureed in a blender. If you can’t get your hands on fresh mango, check out Trader Joe’s Frozen Mango Chunks)

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 tbs lemon zest

¼ cup freshly squeezed lime juice

1 tsp lime zest

½ cup agave

¼ cup Thai basil leaves

6 cups cold water

Cayenne pepper, for garnish

In a blender, add all of the ingredients except the water & cayenne, and blend for about a minute. Pour into a large pitcher & add the water. Do a quick taste test to make sure it’s as sweet or as tart as you like. Serve over ice, with a sprinkling of cayenne, and maybe one of those fancy umbrella things. Careful with the cayenne though! You want a subtle “Oh! That’s fun!,” not this…
